The New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) recently upgraded their MapHub web application incorporating the latest technology in ArcGIS (10.5). MapHub 2 included updating the widgets to the latest versions of Web AppBuilder (WAB).
GBS, as part of the wider project team, delivered the end solution along with Eagle Technology and the NZTA geospatial team. Working together with Eagle and NZTA resulted in a quality product that has been extremely well received by NZTA.
With so many involved, there were some challenges coordinating the various aspects to ensure delivery to the required timeframes. However, working as part of a wider project team meant that the expertise of each party was able to be combined to deliver a quality solution for the client.
The GBS team comprised of David Aalbers – Senior GIS Developer – who was the technical lead from GBS in this project, Daryl Anderson – GIS Developer – who was responsible for producing some of the WAB widgets, Alex Lee as the junior Business Analyst and Lisa Read who was the primary Project Manager.
The internal feedback from throughout the NZTA organisation has been exceptionally positive for MapHub 2. The project enabled the team to explore the capabilities of Portal for ArcGIS and WAB. This delivered leading edge technology for NZTA, conforms to NZTA’s security protocols and has created a solution that will be used more extensively within The Agency.
With the cyclical nature of GIS development, each project develops in-house expertise through pushing boundaries and increasing skill with new technology. This enables the GBS team to deliver better solutions for clients. With long-term partnerships, this means that the next project benefits and the quality of the solutions keeps improving.
